In T&A Kear saying we are trying to bring someone in on a month loan.

Any ideas who and when. Nice big forward would help for when we play York. I haven't looked at calender but If they was to play against York when would they come in?

What was the point in signing people like Davies and Andrade if Kear is clearly never going to play them? Why are we wasting what little money we have in players we are never going to call on? I don't get it.

The squad wasn't assembled by Kear remember. If he thinks he needs someone then I'm happy to go along with him.

Andrade had a decent game in the reserves recently but still needs to work on the ball security. I don't rate Davies.

Kear signed Andrade didn't he? And who gave Goodall an extension on his contract?
Davies was poor last year but I don't believe he's so bad that we can't even give him a shot against some of these league 1 teams we're playing.

Kear believes 1st teams spots have to be earnt and he won't just give them out. He's old school in that respect.

The cynic in me thinks that Chalmers wanted us to run a reserve team because of his belief (rightly or wrongly) that it would stand us in good stead should licensing ever return. So we amassed a bunch of players who would allow us to run a reserve side but realistically would never be used in the first team squad.

Basically the same as previous years then? Though perhaps we haven't pushed the boat out quite so far as before, that is to say we're not pushing the 40 player mark - well not yet! It's true that the reserve side has been mentioned in the context of being in a higher division, so maybe it is in the back of his mind.

To be fair, I've been quite happy with the way the club is being run, heavens, it almost seems we've got professionals in charge sometimes. I think that Bullseye has probably hit the major point though, that Kear wasn't around when much of the early recruiting was done.

The strange thing to me, well slightly strange, is that the focus has changed from recruiting a replacement for Jy Hitchcox, onto getting a forward. Yes, I know we have the odd injury in the pack that we didn't have back then, but none of them are particularly long term (so far as I know), so why the change in emphasis? Then again, it is only a month, so it's not a breaker, to be honest.

I think we need to be looking at bringing in a 9, if it's just for a month and I wouldn't be apposed to us bringing in strong running back too

Butterworth will be back from Batley after this weekend.

How long before George Flanagan is back too? We'll be well suited for hookers then imo. Not that any new players, forwards or backs, wouldn't be welcome, but how much are they really needed if money is tight, which we've been led to believe is the case?

We have a strong squad for this division already, in my opinion, but if management think we can still run a tight financial ship with more, better qualified staff, I'm not going to argue. I guess, if it were down to me, I'd hang on and see how it goes, and then, if we look like we may be going into play-offs, react accordingly. AKA keeping your powder dry.
