Don't think i'm biased...
...i'm just very narrow minded!!!!!!!

Re: Floodlights : Mon Jan 15, 2018 1:21 pm
The ground standard requirements are a lot lower in League 1, even compared with Championship.

In the Championship we had a requirement of 300lux with ability to increase for broadcast reasons. Yet in League one they must be "fit to play under". This is an extraordinary statement to make as who determines a facility is fit to play under.

We are currently working with a potential new football club who will, if successful enter at National Tier 7 level and they have a requirement of 300lux with a variance of no more than 25%!!!

Essentially a team in League 1 could potentially play in a public park at a push... utterly ridiculous!!!

Just needs another 10-12 more bulbs fitting. No idea how expensive they are but it was too dark at times on Sunday. We won thanks to their fullback misjudging a bomb, probably not helped by the light. That could easily have happened to us.

I remember the top lights were used first then as it got darker the lower ones came on. When poor old Omar was in charger he used to switch them off before the players had left the field.

I wonder if he had a blanking plate fitted over the switch for the lower lights..

There are plenty of bulbs in their thirties that could still do a job at our level.

Would agree in general, though many of those older bulbs have weak filaments due to overuse and as they age it takes a lot longer to recover from the stresses and strains of lighting a game for an hour or more, so I was wondering if maybe some of them could be substituted at half time? I've not read the operational rules so can't say how many interchanges are allowed per match, but I'm sure it'll be covered somewhere.

Yeah, but we don't want one to sign of those big Aussie bulbs that were bright in their day, but have dimmed considerably and look to the spotlights of Odsal as a retirement fitting....

They're not that bad but they're certainly not great. Only five working bulbs in two of them. I wouldn't fancy catching a bomb in that light.

I thought 3 of the stanchions had more than half of their bulbs working, just the one on the corner between the coral stand & pop side had fewer than 1/2 bulbs working.

I think they're £250-300 a pop. But I agree, it looked bad.

Nah, I think this thread will end up being a little 'light' on content....

Sorry to be pedantic but it is lamps that we need replaced, not bulbs. Bulbs go into the ground!
