Who would you keep? : Mon Aug 07, 2017 10:10 am
Just a bit of fun. Who would you keep from the current squad for next years L1 campaign :D
I've not included players who are too good for us and will inevitably move on (Roche, Ryan, Bentley, Chisholm) Obviously i expect a few from the below list to move on as well, but i've included them as i've not seen rumours linking them with moves elsewhere. It's on the assumption we'll be FT next year.

It's just a bit of fun to see what sort of squad the fans assemble. Some might want a clear out, some may want consistency. Players we don't rate, we might keep as they may do OK in L1.

You will keep Chisholm, cant see anywhere for him to go in the Championship.

Pollsters doing Excellent job - say recent polls.

Re: Who would you keep? : Mon Aug 07, 2017 10:51 am
I'm not ticking boxes. It's fairly simple for me. I would keep as many of our own academy products as we can, along with all the players we have signed since the season started.
I would allow to leave all the players who we inherited who no other SL or Championship side wanted when they were free agents.

Surprised at the low votes for Evan Hodgson so far. He's a great prospect. Still only in the U19s.

Tomlinson I don't think has had enough gametime to make a decision.

Not surprised where other votes have and haven't gone - apart from Tonga who is getting on, won't be cheap and is injured more often than fit.

That's pretty much how I ticked the boxes.

All the Academy products, plus three or four that we signed in the past few months.

And who the hell voted to keep Macani?

And Halafihi. I'm guessing that was one of our "guests" from another club.

I can't really see us being the ones making most of the decisions, to be honest.

Most of our young players will have already signed elsewhere, as rumour suggests and so, no doubt, will the better members of our squad. In the absence of any planned incomers, I think we'll do well to hang on to what we can and hopefully be able to plug any obvious gaps in the vacant positions. With the few who have been already given contracts up to the end of next year and a team of fully signed players, instead of the loanees and DRs, that should, at least, give some stability to the team and help with the gelling process.

Well, that's my plan anyway..

IF we do remain FT, one thing in our favour is that they won't be any more FT clubs next year. The option of being paid FT to play RL is still appealing to many players.

Heard from a very good source at the weekend that the whole team certainly isn't staying full time. There may be the odd player who is FT, but most will be Part Time.
Obviously not official, but the guy who told me is rarely wrong.

If I'm honest, I've completely lost interest now. The lack of communication is just making me more and more apathetic towards the club every single day that goes by.

There's next to no chance of me being at Odsal next season, even if we ended up with Billy Slater, Cooper Cronk & Cameron Smith (the good one) playing for us.

Lets face it; the full-time players we have had this year have been second best to every part-time team in our league throughout the season anyway. If we can get some decent PT players, that would be better than a lot of the guys we have had this year.
