If we're counting recruits from rugby union there are others. Seems a bit off to claim some of them as they were fully formed players when they signed.

He did. He came through the juniors at the same time as Ellery Hanley.

Franny Jarvis... from St. Georges school down Cliff road, opposite Peel Park..bit of a Hard case was Franny, and a dam good hooker, played for GB I think?

Ha ha, I know Franny very well one of his sons is one of my best mates, plus played for him at Undercliffe. Played a game at York, short of players Franny pulled the boots on must have been 50 at the time, nearly snapped a lad in two (legally might I add) ref told coach to take him off or he would find ways to send him off!

To be fair he played at a time where wasnt massively acceptable still for black players, went through the mill in the scrums!
