Positive statement from Green, and I absolutely agree with his comment on the junior intake at all levels at the moment, we have got that very right at the moment.
I get his frustration given he made an earlier statement about staying full time next year and that our squad was just about complete for next year. BUT..... Look at where the rumors really gained credence, in the media! Within an hour of Sunday's game ending, Phil Caplin on Radio Leeds was talking about hard decisions needing to be taken and that players may have to be unloaded next season if not before, a view supported enthusiastically by the T&A & the YP this morning. This helped feed the on line frenzy that seems to have so frustrated Green. It's clear from the T&A articles that there isn't a good relationship with him, and I guess the rest of the press. That is something that is in Green's power to put right, nothing to do with supporters, but helps feed supporters less than positive attitudes. The way the club communicate on injured players sort of bears this out as well, no word on why players are missing, what the problem is etc. I get not wanting to show all your cards to competitors, but when were we informed that Gaskell would be out approx. x weeks, 2 or 3 weeks ago.
All this would be irrelevant if we saw the team fighting as a team, even in defeat, but too often we see little fight, hence Green should understand why people question paying top dollar for ragtag performances. Address the communication issues, keep a future vision with the development of juniors and get a group of players fighting 80 minutes each week for each other (not just against Leigh) and I have little doubt the majority of supporters would continue to shell out cash to support our club, if they have something to feel proud of!
