I don't really follow the u19's. But I wonder if our half back issue couldn't be solved by internal promotion? We must have some decent up and coming lads if we're able to pull off this sort of result.

You'd love to think so, guess it depends how developed they are, like you I don't follow the U19's anymore but I'd trust that Diskin would know how they are developing and expose them to the 1st team at the right point. I think if we are to spend another couple of years down in the championship (or even if we go up tbf) we'd be better served prioritising cash on developing the juniors and getting them through into the 1st team even if some inevitably move on to other clubs. I'd rather develop 10 potential first teamers due to investment in youth coaching and lose 5 to SL teams than develop 1 or 2 by luck and rely on the availability of more expensive journey men. If we can develop more home grown players, who tend to have an initially lower impact on the cap and wage bill, and then (correctly hopefully Mr Ferres) target remaining cap spend on experienced players who make a real difference in key positions, that way it will be easier to maintain a FT environment than the current scattergun approach to recruitment.

Mick, how old were the two half backs playing against Wigan?

Think he's younger. Sure he was one of the group of scholarship lads we signed up last year.

He moved up from the U16s so could be only 17.

Thanks for posting result and comment Mick. And thank you for at last making Radio/Video commentary of Bulls Matches listenable, interesting and- at times - exciting. :D

Happy to help.

Yeah, Trueman is only 17, but a white hot prospect that we should be looking to tie down asap.
I that in the crowd last night were Castleford and Huddersfield scouts, looking at all 34 players.

This year is a year too soon to consider giving him game time, but I'd certainly let him start the 2017 pre-season.

He could have a great mentor in Leon Pryce, if he comes our way.
