That sort of thing would be more appropriate at the actually launching of the season ticket rather than telling people who've already bought one.

Unless the club are doing a refer a friend deal where you get a rebate on your season ticket for everyone you get to sign up.

That would only be true if, 'ticket collection day' was the final day for buying tickets and if his words weren't going to be repeated endlessly, to all and sundry, afterwards.
