I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying.

Jake Mullaney played all his U20's rugby at 6 or 7 so no great panic to find one.

I like Jake at 7, IMO our best performances from both halves last year was at fev when jake was 7 and gaskell 6 and they worked brilliantly in tandem that day.Of the current options I'd go with Jake, problem then is full back - maybe Oscar Thomas can be the option to be developed for FB if jake goes to 7? as I prefer Clare on the wing and mendeika doesnt convince me at all at fb.

It's a strange one this.

Very terse comment from the club, and no comment as yet from Siejka. Wonder if there's a bit more to this than meets the eye, because it certainly seemed that Lowes rated him highly? With a full pre-season behind him and staying free from injury I was fully expecting him to be our starting 7 next season.

I can only assume that there is a plan afoot to replace him, and hopefully with someone better. Godinet, Kyle Wood and even Sammut would be possible options I suppose.

Mullaney is a class player who would make a quality SH in my view but is he going to stay fit? Mullaney + Gaskell + Purtell is pretty good if you added a Kyle Wood type player. Is Wood a genuine possibility, I've seen him play coming off the bench at dummy half and he looked good.

If that was all our recruitment with young Clark coming in I'd be quite pleased tbh.

If rumours on here are to be believed, we've another prop signed up already but not yet announced.

Siejka has no one to blame but himself for the fans getting on his back. He never showed any ability to take charge in games, his distribution and kicking were both poor and he lacked any real attacking threat. All of which adds up to a poor performance as a half back.

Sorry it didn't work out for the lad, but he just looked out of his depth from day one

Surprised we've not gone in for Martyn Ridyard. Leigh seem desperate to get Rangi but are being held back by SC issues. If Leigh did get Rangi then I can't see Ridyard being first choice. Ridyard would compliment Gaskell and is an excellent goal kicker!

More bizarre is Ross is saying likeliest lineup is Gaskell and Purcell in halves. Surely mullaney and addy would be ahead of Purtell?

Can see this being a possibility if the Welham rumours over on the HKR board are true with Him and Neilson in the centres where would it leave Purtell? As cant see any of the three of them (should Welham sign) being sat on the sidelines considering the amount of cap space you would imagine they would take

Siejka wasn't good enough but he got plenty of OTT abuse from supposed fans that haven't got a clue. I was embarrassed at times with some stuff people threw at him.
