But i think you're right, Jimmy, seems set on Mullaney/Gaskell/Siejka. If Siejka does come back he needs to do more than his catch and pass. It was embarrassing watching him on Wednesday (and i've defended him this year) I think it will be a decision Jimmy will live and die by.

Not sure I'd go that far. All coaches from time to time sign players that for some reason or another don't work out. For me, the main aim for Lowes was making the Middle 8S competition and we have done so comfortably. I would love to see us promoted, but it will be a hard task and I won't be to disappointed if we don't make it. We have to be realistic and realise that it may not happen at the first opportunity and we may need a few seasons to build a team with the right players in the right positions that can be a threat to those sides that are dropping down.

I don't think 1 signing over 1 season will be the deciding factor as to whether Lowes gets the chop or not.

As it stands now. I think Jimmy has done a good job and we can't really be asking anything else from him at this stage.

Even the most loyal and faithful fan can be forgiven for having a nagging doubt about a coach who thinks playing Purtell as a half-back is in any way normal.

The fact that Jimmy is unrepentant after Wednesday and was even about to do it AGAIN. Well...it staggers me.

Me too!

I left the game in a good mood and stayed that way until I saw the post match interview...

Being stubborn can be a good trait when the decisions made are good, the reverse is true when the decisions are off the mark.

I am getting worried and possibly angry - as well as staggered

To be absolutely fair to Jimmy on this issue, Mullaney was carrying a knock and considering the number of games he's played this year, i can understand why Jimmy didn't want to risk him from the off. I know he had a stormer but if he had a knock and did further damage, we would have been moaning why we reisked him against Hunslet when we've got such big games coming up.

Having said they they are plenty better options than Purtell at 6. Halafihi would do just fine.

No Jimmys goal is to get us promoted. I could have coached us to finish in the top 4.

7 is such a crucial position, you can't afford to carry anyone in that position. If Jimmy is going to stay loyal to Siejka then he has to perform. It could be the difference between us going up or not. SH has that much of an influence. These are the decisions that the coaches get paid to make.

I've never understood why Halafihi hasn't had a go at half, given all the injuries we've had. The kid has looked good every time he's played.

Looking at it over the year he appears to have always eased players back in from injuries and not risked them with knocks unless there was no alternative. The one exception I'd note is O'Brien where there seems to be a desire to play him come rain or shine.
Mullaney was playing with an injection anyway so 80 minutes in his first game back was a risk.

Indeed yes, you cant get promoted outside the top 4 as London might well find out.

Yes it is a crucial position, but hes not going to get the chop after one year if Seijka doesn't turn out to be sufficient. Be realistic.

How'd he get on at Hunslet? In the 10 minutes against Batley he looked quick and skillful but perhaps a bit light. He's been a weird signing considering we already had two young, not very big hookers.
