I am no fan of Siejka but am gutted for the lad. It seemed so innocuous too, all he seemed to do was drive for the line and get tackled. But what can you do?

I reckon he would be the first to admit though that he hasn't exactly set the house on fire and our best has, I agree, been without him. I'm hoping after the long layoff, it will be like a brand new start for him, and that we will see a better player.

Maybe we should coherse Widdop to ignore Gary and head for Odsal.

Sods law with sending Brook away from a month! Not that I'd throw him in against Rovers if he was available anyway, but certainly Doncaster, anyway that's not an option.

I don't know if it's just me but I wonder if Halafihi could potentially step in to a half back cover role, he looks to me he likes the ball in his hands and could offer a running game, like a young Luke Robinson.

I think we'll miss Siejka's defending as well, something you don't normally associate with a seven. But he was solid defensively and not afraid to get stuck in. I'm all for giving the likes of Brook and Halafihi a go at 7, but they are both small players - Brook especially - and opposition would almost certainly get their biggest blokes running at them as often as possible.
At least with Jake/Addy playing there we should be ok in this regard.

A real shame for the lad, after the last couple of years. I'd be inclined to go with a bigger pack against HKR and play Addy in the halves and Mullaney at FB.

Bigger problem for us is timing of sjelka's return rather than injury. He's due to be fit 4 or 5 weeks before mid season split. So given a couple of games for match fitness were into key pre split games with Leigh and fax trying to gel a halves partnership. Almost think we need to move mulaney/addy/ new signing there for rest of season to get combinations going with Gaskell and just view sjelka as injury cover when he comes back rather than trying to slot him in.
Don't see any point getting a short term loan in either as we have same issue with disconouity if they get recalled. We need to either work with what we've got or make a permanent signing or at worst a season long loan with no recall option.
