The phrase politically correct is in itself politcally incorrect so should be rephrased politically stupid!

That certainly would spice up the Championship if he takes it, good luck to him,

Unfortunately, Nobby is now just a "filler" when someone wants some experience. Nobody seems willing to let him coach a team by himself. Maybe his future is working in the championship. There must be something about him that owners don't like. Maybe they think he is past it. Its a shame as he still has a lot to give - but possibly not wearing his trainers!

To be right, Nobby has done it all as a coach - and pretty successfully. From actually coaching players, man management and the tactical side of it.

The pity is he was caught up in the debacle of our initial collapse and fire sale when CC left, though I guess many of the decisions taken at that time were for financial benefit and not for the team. Nor do I suppose they were really all Nobby's doing.

A move to London would certainly cause a bit of interest, and in any case, he's been out of a real rugby job far too long for a coach of his pedigree.

It could well be they may think he's past it, or maybe it could be his wage demands what the owners are frightened of.

Everyone seems to assume that club Owners know more about coaches and picking coaches than anyone else. Yet they don't! Many owners know almost nothing about coaching. Why would they, and why would anyone assume that some random owner, just because they have a few bob, is qualified and able to compare and assess all potential coaches in RL? That's patent bollox, isn't it? I am sure many on here know much more about, for example, Aussie coaches than several owners.

I would imagine Nobby wouldn't make himself available for a full-time post on the cheap, he's not exactly skint, and I expect money is the no.1 reason (apart from Marwan's expensive re-think) why he's not in a job. I'm sure when vacancies pop up he is high on any target list. Don't forget as recently as Salford/Koukash, Nobby was picked as head coach above every other available candidate on the planet, which doesn't scream "past it" to me. And why would he be "past it"? Did he turn 80 and I missed it? :?

Well good luck to him if he is to take over at London. He's got a job on his hands if he does take on the Broncos, mind.

You are looking at the term "Passed it" as purely an age thing. I certainly didn't say it as that. Sometimes in many jobs you are seen as being passed it because you may have been away from the cut and thrust for a while. Other younger ones have been seen to have had the latest training and techniques taught to them that may or may not be better - in my eyes usually no better! You may be seen to be stuck in one particular mould of working when new ideas and methods are been used by others. I started watching Northern when Foxy was in charge. He was ridiculed by many but I still say he was the best coach / man manager I have known and talked to. To me he was Mr Northern after Mr Foster.
The problem is not with Nobby. It is with the owners who are seduced by new ideas and styles they see from elsewhere.
I think that unfortunately for Nobby he probably is seen to be passed it in many owners eyes when they see what the likes of Maguire did after him at Wigan and Souths. Sometimes in any job you can lose the "sparkle" you had when you were younger and it is sometimes impossible to get it back with all of those young uns coming along with the latest ideas and you end up just plodding along till you retire. Welcome to the later years of working life Nobby being seen as that old bloke who once did a top job and enjoy it while you can.

In rugby league some people are past it. Others, fewer in number, have passed it.

I have nothing else to add.
