I phoned the club shop today to see when they are due to be released, he said that it's likely these wont be decided until after the pre season fixtures, sounds like Jimmy is giving the boys a chance to earn a starting number in the upcoming weeks.

Latest photos from the army camp suggest Addy has no. 13, Gaskell has 6, Williams has 5.

Can make out a few others on Facebook pictures if their training gear is correct. Chev is wearing 22. Siejka 7. Ulugia 19, Purtell 3. Olbison 11. Henry 20. Is that Shaw with 27?

Would help if I actually knew their faces. We have so many different people in the squad, I don't recognise half of them!

Mmm, so on that basis, the skipper is to wear no. 22. It can't be that often that a club captain hasn't worn a 1 - 13 shirt.

Didn't Wellens return part way through a season though, due to an injury 'crisis'?

I seem to recollect it was well after the squad was initially announced and not a planned number and probably not a planned captaincy either .

Don't think so. I think he was always captain and always number 17 last season. It was something along the lines of letting Lomax take the 1 shirt as a nod to him deserving it and being first choice fullback, with Wellens being intended on playing at Loose Forward or as a utility, so 17 suited more. Something like that anyway.

Do you mean Thursday's 'Audience [or 'Evening', depending on which you read] with the Bulls', which to the best of my knowledge doesn't come even with a bag of crisps, or is it Saturday's dinner?

Saturday, the squad numbers will be unveiled (not just presented which presumably precludes them being announced on Thursday) when the three course meal will be unveiled as prawn cocktail crisps, barbecue beef crisps with cheese and onion crisps for vegetarians, and cheesecake and chive crisps for pud.
