I'm willing to give him a shot. He's a local lad so might bring the best out the best of him.

He's playing in a very strict structure at Wigan under Wane. We complain about our boring rugby but I think we play better rugby than them. We have scored more points than them and we played some of the most boring rugby any saints team has ever played. So basically if he's given a more free reign at Saints we might see a better Matty smith.

My big gripe is the 4 year deal and who partners him.

Some perspective after 100 pages of drivel. Reacher (who left the forum & needs to be invited back) has spoken to the club & Matty Smith will be at best a two year deal with an option of a third in Saints favour. Saints are also talking to an international half back too & await a response. He's a big name too will put bums on seats & suggests Smith isn't target number one but "an option" as the club strive to strengthen the playing squad.

We've signed an International backrower & a centre from the NRL who has been glowingly endorsed by Daniel Anderson.
Suggest as others have mentioned recently to sit tight and await a few announcements in the coming weeks. Contrary to belief Saints have conducted an extensive review of playing staff, due diligence on potential recruits & announcement likely very soon.

There's a huge feel good factor around the club at the moment & the two that are signed & sealed are exciting with more to come. After this morning, there's an awful lot to look forward to both this season & beyond. When the announcements are made I hope people then give the credit where it's due. Reading some of the stuff on here, am I'm as guilty as any other must be frustrating when the club are moving heaven & earth to improve us.

Who is Reacher and why would the club give him this information?

He used to post on redvee & is a good friend of the club. I was just party to the conversation & have put out the lasted info without plastering names all over here.

Signings will be announced very soon but at least two are done, ink dry.

I can vouch for the same info that Stan has posted here.
Looks like SKY may have shot their bolt a bit early on this one and have created doom and gloom that wasn't necessary.
