I thought Swift played well for you, although apart from Savelio non of the forwards turned up, really. It may just be me, but I'm not sure what Greenwood does to warrant the hype. He's a big unit, and he runs good lines near the try line, but is his all round contribution good enough?

He's a big unit and he runs big lines, and for his age that is a good enough contribution IMO. On an 'ins' line near the try line he's very difficult to stop. His footwork into tackling is a bit poor at the minute as are his reads in defence, but that will come with experience. Worthy of the hype for a young player having his first real break out year, just not England quality (yet) like some people have made out. He also needs to carry the ball more coming out of our own half I think.

Offside Monkey wrote:
However, we are (again) being totally out played at the ruck. We never show the ability to slow the oppositions PTB, whilst allowing them to slow ours. This is the greatest problem we have by far.

There are two main elements to this.
1: we plant our feet when tackling way too early. We get away with it against teams like Wigan, where it's all straight/diagonal lines from their ball runners, because it just means we have more time to get set before a collision. Against teams with footwork i.e. Warrington, Leeds, they find weak tackles as a result. Thompson is the worst for this, but a lot of the team have this problem.
2: we don't have a wrestling coach. I remember this was in part of our defence when a player has a disciplinary hearing earlier in the year. But for me, that's a bit tactically naive. Wrestling is such an important part of the game nowadays, I'm amazed we've lasted this long without one. We as fans don't like slowing the play the ball down, but it is part of the game; Saints refusing to hire a wrestling coach doesn't stop other teams wrestling. We have a few good wrestlers in the team, Flanagan is one (potentially because he's got NRL experience) but they are few and far between.

You're right, you were the better team last night, well done. Don't mind us, It's just the high expectations we have of our team and we obviously don't like losing to mid-table teams.

i also suspect that saints are gearing up for 100% in training this week. From today this is now THE most important part of the season, one/two weeks worth of amazing training and ball work (not fitness as if you're not physically fit now you wont be in 2 weeks time) you will find yourself lifting the trophy. Lets hope saints have a real productive week in training with our attack and defence structures.

Well you'll be winning as many trophies as that mid table team Warrington this year; zero.

It's all very well getting up for, and beating, big clubs like Wigan and Leeds if we can't seem motivated against mid-table clubs.

An awful performance and well beat, but all will be forgotten and forgiven with a win next week.

How can you even post that? Trying to justify that your team failed to qualify (where HALF the teams get through btw) on your assumption that we won't win it. Supporters of joke clubs like yourself made the same silly statement last season. I'm sure you would swap positions with us in a heartbeat.

What are you on about? I'm not justifying anything - we have been poor and inconsistent this season and don't deserve to finish in the top 4. I'm merely stating that you won't win the Grand Final - that's my prediction.

As for being a supporter of a 'joke club' that joke club would have put 50 past you yesterday at home had the game not been on Sky.

Whats important is that we,ve already beaten you 3 times when it mattered for both teams, last night was a dead rubber game for the wire and from our point of view just an opportunity missed to perform against a team who struggled to stay in the top 8.
I would,t get too carried away with the 50 points prediction, on a good day for wire against a poor saints side probably the best you can do is a 30 points winning margin, thats a long way off the 50+, 60+, 70+ and 80 - 0 thrashings we've dished out by winning 42 games out of a 50 total.

Again, well done on posting what I think was your 9th win against us in nearly 50 games.

And yes, you had 5 tries disallowed by the video ref, some of them were actually ruled 'no try' by the ref but he went to the screen anyway. You're clutching at straws here. It doesn't even matter.

We're going on to bigger targets now, like trying to get to the Grand Final again. Whether we get there or not, at least we've given ourselves a shot.

That's outrageous if true. Especially considering Nathan brown was supposed to be one of the main culprits for bringing wrestling to the UK.
