Arsenal old or Arsenal new? : Sat Aug 01, 2015 3:07 am
Are you a big club?- having nearly paid off the stadium, are you ready to make some big signings to proactively get the side back to the all conquering
Side from a few years back. Or are you a big club who'll be satisfied with mediocrity. Don't get me wrong- it's nice to see to stains lose and I mean it. But what's happened? I know you won the gf last year and Wire have'nt won it bla bla. Apart from Roby, Walmsley and Masoe and Luke Walsh's distribution and Quinlan- you look flat. Nothing like the side everyone feared for so many years. You came back well tonight but I always felt that Leeds wouldn't lose. Your losing Masoe next year whos a top player/irreplaceable.I'm a Wire so any bad news west of Bold Heath is good but what's happened to the Saints of old- top signings like newlove, Scott Gibbs, Sculthorp etc. Peyroux to complete the overseas rosta?! Wire have been awful for the first part of the season but were trying to mend it with the signings we've made. What are saints doing? For such a big world renouned club- if I was a stains fan, I'd be really dissapointed. You used to be the entertainers. You'll be the paint drying watchers soon.

He's right though. We're the only one of the 'big' clubs that is going backwards at the moment.

I'm not being funny. You've been the stand out side since sl began. You've always bought the cream of the crop and had a fantastic side. As much as i disliked it- you've always had a team full of
quality players. It feels different now. The Saints fear factor has gone. Roby, Walmsley, Masoe; Walsh and Makinson when their fit are absolutely quality. The rest of the side are ok but thats it.
Leeds 3/4 are probs the best, Wigan with Melling and Sarginson with the speedsters on the wing are (for me much better and i include Wire 3/4( not the best at the mo)) much better. Your 3/4 does'nt
strike any fear at all compared to the backs you've always had.

Billy Melling hasn't played for Wigan for around 40 years, and he was a backrow forward.

Go on, I'll give you a bite.

Don't know if your purposely ignorant to Percival in your 3/4 comparison, but there's not a centre in the league I'd swap him for. He's very young, but he's already one of our best players. He'll be the very definition of a strike centre in 3 years, and is already running (and defending) better than most. Savelio got a lot of credit for his second try last night but the angle Percy ran was just as important to score.

Putting Gelling and Sarginson ahead of Turner and Percival is proof you're either trolling or completely clueless.

I totally agree leeds 3/4 line is miles ahead of everyone else's at the moment - BUT I believe it's purely down to the fact they've been paying unders for their spine for years - Sinfield has already said that they have turned down better offers, so it's easy to invest 500k on the 3/4s when you know you have Maguire and Burrow and Sinfield, all quality players, playing for far less than they should. Unfortunately for them that is coming to an end...

Thompson, Savelio, Percival, Swift and Vea will all join the fear factor players in you list soon enough.

Saints biggest problem is KCs inability to pick the correct team - we all saw the difference in the team when Vea (a real second rower) replaced LMS (who should of been at lock)
