In all seriousness what are you going to have missing from your first choice 17?

Lomax, Percival, Walsh and Vea?

Burns, Roby and Greenwood will play and guys like Wellens and Walker are back up anyway. Things haven't gone too badly without Lomax and Walsh either.

You guys aren't fooling anyone! Talk of sending kids teams, having 103 players missing and saying how lucky a Wigan side is with injuries when it's missing 5 or 6 first choice players isn't going to cut the mustard.

Got to love derby week.

How do you know Burns, Roby and Greenwood will play? For what it's worth I think we'll win if they do.

Wellens would play if fit in th absence of Lomax.

No no no you can't chastise saints fans for including fringe players in an injury list, and at the same time include players like Powell, Sutton and Thornley in your own injury list! Also, SOL will play regardless of how fit he is, so that leaves you with Charnley and Crosby.

A winger and (an out of form) prop, isn't quite the same as missing your 1 and 7, potentially your 6 and 9, potentially your second row and arguably best centre!

Derby week indeed!

Potentially we could have missing: Roby (he has to pass his head test), Burns (x-rays tomorrow on cheekbone), Percival (definitely), Lomax (definitely), Walsh (definitely), Vea (definitely), Greenwood (elbow injury - no info from Saints on a return date yet) and Wellens (hip injury - no info on a return date yet).

Now granted, Roby may pass his head test, Burns' x-rays may be clear and Greenwood may be returning, as may Wello (giving us much needed fullback cover) but we don't know yet so we are looking at what might potentially be the case.

I'd be surprised if they didn't.

The talk last week was that Greenwood was going to get the week off last week as a precaution. James Roby is a tough little bug*er and won't miss this one and Burns will be fine.

I fully agree that if they play you'll win and that's why I know this talk of 'let's send the kids and write it off' is nothing more then derby week banter.

Both teams will be about 4 or 5 down from their first choice 17's IMO. One team is in far better form then the other and will suit what's a disgraceful pitch at the DW far better.

Thornley no but Charnley, Lockers, Powell, Crosby and Sutton would all be in a first choice 17 at the minute without question.

O'Loughlin is a few weeks off by the way and is running the kids Easter training camp with Charnley so you can certainly rule him out.

O'Loughlin aside, the rest are pants. It's like us missing Dawson, Howarth, Grey Viane and Dom Faunati.

For me if either Burns or Roby are out, or both, we should send the kids in and play no first teamers. Simply an impossible task. Not that Wigan are good, but if we're missing Roby and Burns, I doubt we'd beat most SL sides.

Their talent wasn't the discussion. Regardless of how good you think they are (or are not) they'd be in a first choice 17 at Wigan.

And there's been that much moaning on here about injuries I'm expecting Grey Viane might not pull through either!

I was pretty confident this time last week.... Now with the injuries we have and the state of the pie dome pitch I'm not to sure. The forwards need to stand up in this one as with the recent weather and forecast it could be a mud bath.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: Vea out long term : Tue Mar 31, 2015 8:32 am
The forwards stood up last week. Hopefully this week all the backs have hot their worst game out of the way. Burns should be back on form and Wilkin will hopefully just get the basics right, and get his kicks away earlier. A kick to deep is far better than a kick charged down.
