Cas stats : Sat Feb 28, 2015 9:53 am
http://superleague.co.uk/report/11018
Big Alex is getting through some work, 168 mtrs from 22 carries with 23 tackles

Robes the usual machine with 44 tackles

Very concerning is the number of missed tackles, 36 as a team, Burns with 6, Wilkin 5 and makinson, Vea and greenwood with 4 each

I think those stats confirm what I thought while watching the game, which was that our forwards looked as if they hadn't recovered from the Souths game. The metres made were pretty mediocre (Walmsley excepted). Mind you, maybe if we hadn't kicked on the 2nd or 3rd tackle in every other set, we might have given the forwards chance to make more ground.

Not a great Saints performance, but we still won against a Cas team which is far from the easybeats of yesteryear.

Greenwood missed 4 against catalan as well with Turner the same. So that side of the field is a concern.

I didn't see Burns miss many tbh and I tnink him Percy and Tommy have looked pretty safe this year.

The stats show what I thought, the pack was 2nd best and couldn't get the go forward we usually do. Only big Alex made good meters.

Last night is the first time I think we missed Sia and manu.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

I do think we were shot at. Just goes to show what week in week out would do to a SL team in the NRL. We would have been toasted this week.

Look at Warrington getting smashed by the french. Was that the aftermath of their friendly last week ?

If so, I was right and its a uneeded disruption:

I see it as giving increased exposure to RL.

So yes for me it's a benefit

Let's say we play in the friendly match next year and pick up injuries to Roby and burns. We then lose the next few games and miss out on the top 4. Would you still think we've give The game exposure ?

Yes, a player can pick up an injury in training, in pre season, damn they can bust their back by sneezing.

It benefits RL to promote the game, which benefits the clubs with wider exposure to sponsorship and TV. Which in the end benefits the players.

Sorry but I don't see any benifits for the on the field. Our best was smashed by a under cooked Souths team 39-0 which was a record defeat.

Wigan lost against a very poor Broncos team that was missing several players and Wayne Bennett said he didn't care if won or lost, only brought 18 players and didn't even know it was a world series lol

Warrington lost against a team that finished 11th in the NRL.

The only view I have, is we are further away than ever to competing in a real World Series with our top 8 v their top 8.

Will fans keep turning out every year to see NRL beat super league?

Will the "sponsors" you talk of wabt to keep sponsoring a dead runner World Series?

Will teams continue to pay the £170k to bring over the Aussies when the crowds drop?

Are we promoting how far behind we are ?

What if hudds win the grand final or a team that wont sell out? Will they pay the £170k to fly them over and make a loss ?

It's got no legs and will be dead in the water within 2 years.

Re: Cas stats : Sun Mar 01, 2015 1:06 pm
It should be encouraged to have a mini series with the top 3 SL against the :top 3 NRL, the best performing SL team playing the best NRL in a final encounter give it some exposure similar to an origin game.
The standard of Superleague is very poor and will not improve because of the salary cap and the decling quality of overseas player. A mini series would be get the better SL teams to compete at higher standards and pick up some learning requirements to improve superleague.
