Just found out that a young player by the name of Joe Mcspirit as signed for Wigan. This lad plays for Clock and was a massive Saints fan. Wigan have constantly targeted young saints lads but with not much sucess, it seems however that they're now achieving it. The lad is obviously young but he is the best player in his age bracket by some distance. Lightning pace.

We really do need to step our efforts up as Wigan are currently dominating the youth scene.

Edit. Ive changed the title of the thread lets use this to update on signings and results etc... I know its a young age but it lets people look out for certain players and the games at u16 level are often fantastic.

What is the reason they dominate recruitment?

Prospects? Cash? Coaching?

Under hand tactics imo. Wigan got Sean O Loughlin turn up to lads house unexpected apparantly as Wigan got told he was gonna sign for Saints. So one last attempt saw them sign him.

Josh Ganson has also just recently left Saints to join Wigan the son of Steve.

He signed about three months ago. I've heard some very good reports about him from the Wigan scouts.
Steve Gansons son has also signed for Wigan.
SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row

That's not underhand, that's putting more effort in.

Would you call it underhand for scully to be used to attract young players to join saints?

It certainly isn't cash.

Warrington did the same thing with Ben Westwood trying to take Ryan Hampshire to Wire before he signed for Wigan. Luckily Ryan was sensible. :D

Wigans youth system is very good, as six academy titles in seven years would indicate, BUT there is a high attrition rate.

Ollie Davies, Tommy Makinson and Lewis Fairhurst didn't go back to Wigan.

If Wigan are signing players that have come through our development squads and scholarship scheme, then we must be doing something right.

I had a conversation with St Pete about this lad a couple weeks ago, he's a quality player and Saints have missed out big time.
