His replacement is already there. Paul Anderson has been given the job.

Re: nathan brown : Tue Jun 12, 2012 12:38 pm
If he was sacked, then he can spend the next few month formulating his pre-season and getting to know the Saints structure. There is no advantage to bringing him in this late in the season, other than to give the players a 3rd way of playing in one season.

Whether we can win the GF or not is not relevant. Pre-season is the time to start practising plays and chopping and changing players about. He can start that from the second we come out of the playoffs, he can watch our academy and assess if Gaskell and Foster should be told whether they hold any interest for him. In a way he could get an oppertunity that no other coach gets which is a settling in period and getting to know the players as they play, without any sudden decisions being required.

It would be like a normal handover in a job, where the new guy gets to have some hands on experience before being given full control.

That would be a good compromise. Anything to help reduce the impact on our start next season. If Brown comes in after the season finishes and doesn't do anything until pre-season and the expected turnover of players happens, particularly if there are more changes in the halves, we could start very poorly again next season.

Your dedication to having a different opinion is admirable, but it's not very constructive. They've identified Brown as the man to coach Saints going forward, so let him do the job. Rush has also said he doesn't want to be doing the job.

This season is a write off, we're not good enough to win SL this year, so why not use the time to start the development process we're going to go through under Brown?

This season certainly isn't a write off!

I think we will only lose Wigan away, Catalan away and Warrington home and I think that will give us 3rd/4th spot which will set us up for a good play off postion.

Wigan look pretty much unbeatable so far but so did Warrington last year. I still think we will make the grand final which isn't a write off season.

Certainly not.

Wigan are a different class to everyone else at the moment but take an injury to Tomkins and Finch and that side starts looking much more beatable without its creative and most attacking threats.

Anything can happen with a play-off system. That includes Huddersfield and thus Brown, leave him where he is for now.

Difficult to justify that as they have been spending the full cap.

Was just going to write exactly the same thing.

People keep saying Huddersfield are punching above their weight etc, what they don't mention is how much money he has spent.

The team is littered with internationals, world cup winners and Origin players, if Brown can't get a performance from this bunch then there is something very very badly wrong.

You have to factor in that you spend more attracting players to a non glamour team - players are keen to play for Saints because it is Saints, whereas you'd have to pay an inflated salary to attract them to Hudds as opposed to one of the big clubs.

Simply, although your cap may be the same size it doesn't go as far.

Where did you get that idea from? Players, the vast majority anyway are mercenary when it comes to money and getting your head kicked in for a living. Look at Saints overseas players, they came purely for the money, on contracts, not a lot of players are as patriotic as Kieron C and Paul Wellans who ONLY want to turn out for their home team. Money talks !!!!!.

Money does talk, but it isn't the only reason a player will sign for a club, is it?

Players will consider other things - size of the club, chances of winning honours, location, etc. etc.

Put it this way, seeing as you mention Saints overseas players, if Saints and Huddersfield had both tabled £100k a year to Soliola, where's he going to go? So it's obvious that Hudds will have to pay more to secure top-class talent where other, more glamorous clubs are involved too.
