If Sir Kevin hasn't got his coaching badges then he couldn't coach. So, to get round this problem, he's brought in as director of rugby and Lowes (or anyone else) is made coach (assistant). Foxy Gary will always find a way of getting whatever benefits the Rhinos.

Someone can pass their coaching badges very quickly if needed. I doubt that’s really a consideration.

He's never really been away to be honest.

Id seen him at games this year but thought he’d gone entirely a year or two ago.
Don’t have a problem with him in the role he’s now got, just interested in the timing of everything.

For the rest of SL, definitely. Huddersfield and Catalans especially.

Lowes’ impressive coaching record, you mean? Or Sir Kev’s long list of management experience?

Assistant coach in two Grand Final winning teams, involved in preparing another one?
Continuing in a supporting role plays to his strengths.
"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."

Gary Hetherington clearly never understood what his role was, is or ever will be
I doubt he would get a chair on Mastermind, question time or even question of sport.

Let's face it Kevin Sinfield has more charisma is his cut hair on the barbers floor than either Hetherington has in their whole body

[aquote="tad rhino"]what don't you understand about hetheringons role?[/quote]

GH has been a very effective CEO of the Rhinos - he may not be the brain of Britain but he more than makes up for that with his street cunning and is belief in doing the right thing for the club and the game.

Has he got everything right - certainly not - but he has got more right than wrong.

Every great leader instinctively knows when its time to pass the baton on - it looks like GH has reached that point.
Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

And things can only get better once you have hit bottom as we have now

Unfortunately your myopic view of Hetherington is not reflective of how he got there along with his wife in the dark dark dark days of Maurice Lindsay and his vile cronies

There are better CEOs in all sport including rugby league. I have no doubt that KS will put Leeds RL firmly back on the map when he has finished
