What's a bit poor for a club with the history of Leeds is how little of this sort was done until the last couple of years. Not just the Hall of Fame but the Heritage numbers and generally celebrating the past.

I've been sayinf this for years. The term 'Loiners' has all but systematically dismantled in the name of Super League razzamatazz.

For all the work the Sleeve has done in the past two decades, this for me has been unforgivable.

When you compare the historic info that's available online, the official site is laughable. Its been getting better, with adding Ken Dalby's year by year descriptions (albeit rather disgracefully not credited). But there's nothing on past players or matches except that. Mind you, they used to have a random selection of 80s and 90s player photos on there with no information on most of them. That was probably worse than nothing at all.

I've had a look at other clubs, and for both Wigan and Sts you can find all sorts of facts and figures, including lists of all players. IIRC Leigh have a list of all players somewhere. For us, like you say its as though there was nothing before 1996 of that sort.

I think that as a sport we are terrible at acknowledging and using our history to our advantage. Even recent history, information from 15+ years ago is difficult to come by and there's a shocking lack of stats or information about games available online

To be fair the addition of the Ken Dalby stuff has been great, although as you say failing as far as I can see to credit it is shameful. Although we are sadly lacking on the statistical front I doubt many clubs have a better narrative history on their websites. Details like Leeds complaining their season was undermined by having too many referees from Bradford in the early 1900s are great.

Clearly someone at Leeds or the foundation has collated all the data so publishing it shouldn't be insurmountable for them, in fact it would be a great project for the foundation.

We used to have a wall of fame in the Supporter's Club, and all manor of smashing photos from the past. Sadly, it was torn down, and despite talk of a replacement, appears to be gone forever. I wonder where all that memorabilia is now?

Ken Dalby's narratives are fantastic - I doubt many teams of any code have that sort of thing available as far back as 1895 (with a bit of pre 1895 as well). He also put together a lot of facts and figures, albeit not complete as he drew the line at a minimum of 10 games for player stats. He really did an amazing amount of work years before any computerised information and ought to be acknowledged.

I was disappointed when the club changed the Website .It was a downgrade in my opinion , I actually thought they were in the process of documenting all the stats of every player who ever played for the club . Then suddenly we get what we have now very disappointing
