I still enjoy that film and it gets shown occasionally on TV in USA

RIP. Some great action shots in that film and footage of Belle Vue in its glory years. Of the kitchen sink drama films it’s probably my least favourite.

I got to know ken trail really well after he retired from coaching. He was the trinity coach at the time, he also had a minor part in the film. Some of the stories of Richard Harris drinking exploits were legendary. When they were making the film Peter O Toole used to visit them, he was another historic boozer.

The book's great at showing how a young guy who seems and feels invincible at sport gradually becomes one of the hulking old wrecks that he looks down on when he first turns pro.

One of my all time favourite films, with some great character actors.
