Peter Smith in the YEp is alluding to solid rather than superstar signings before next year. Being honest thats probably realistic given we're way too late (again) to be entering the market for uncontracted players. It does suggest the club is hoping for mid table next year followed by a further clear out the following year. Had McDermott left earlier we would have had more chance to recruit for next season, but hey ho, we are where we are.

Matt Parcell has confirmed in YEP as long as We aren't relegated he'll be with us in 2019. Don't know if he'll be with us any longer than that seen as that's his contract up next year.

I have it on very good authority from within the club two things.

One not so great. Ablett has signed a new TWO year deal.

Two. There are 3 Aussies signed up and one British. I don’t know if Lolohea was one of those 3 he meant. Said one of them is a big signing.

Wouldn’t divulge any more.

Hock is 35. If he was good or reliable enough to play in SL he'd be doing it already. Enough with the crazy suggestions.

How would Hock help the youngsters develop? Don't take drugs and hit referees or end up like me?

So you know he is taking drugs now then?
Maybe the development can be done on the field as opposed to off the field.
Funnily enough Sinfield thought he would be a good signing albeit short term.
Ok so which "enforcer" is going to protect the youngsters next year then or do they continue to get bullied in the pack?

Would be great if they were a Centre (O'Neill), a Prop and two back rowers.

How much space do we have on the relevant quotas? What's the status of Kolpaks these days, what do they count on, just NFT?

I'm OK with the Ablett one, as long as it spells the end for JJB and Delaney. Good as they have been, they are not anymore.
It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

There's a huge difference between making a panic signing to keep the club afloat in the Middle 8s and making a signing to plan for a (hopefully) new SL campaign. Sinfield and co. will be determined to set high standards of professionalism, and Hock's name simply doesn't fit with that, especially after the recent experiences with Hardaker. Sure, Hock may well be a reformed character these days, but if there's even a whiff of trouble it will reflect poorly on the new coaching set-up at Headingley and there will be plenty of people to say 'I told you so'.

I have no idea which 'enforcer' will protect our younger players, as you suggest. Hock would be a poor choice for such a role, however, given his long history of losing control with officials, and propensity to be wound up by other players. A bit more nastiness in the forwards might not be a bad thing, but we don't need 'personalities' with an unprofessional history like Hock IMO.

good news, cracking player, people saying he looks disinterested this year, don't think that is true, played well behind a pack constantly on the back foot.

Not sure he's disinterested but he's looked pretty predictable at times. Then again, that's probably due to the lack of attacking threat we've posed elsewhere on the park.

Good news regarding Parcell.
Not suprised if Ablett stays, as when Sinfield took over he suggested Ablett would be part of the lead group next season.
Is the player from London we are linked with an out and out hooker?
Woody: Can I pour you a draft, Mr. Peterson?
Norm: A little early, isn't it Woody?
Woody: For a beer?
Norm: No, for stupid questions.
