What can GH do? : Sun May 29, 2016 11:48 am
Something has to be done from up top to arrest our current situation. Otherwise there's a 50/50 chance we will be relegated in the million pound game. However whenever someone on here makes suggestions there's always that person who responds and shuts it down ''but there's no coaches/players available...it's not mcdermott's fault the player's aren't putting in 100% yadda yadda''. Always obstacles never solutions.
If it was bottom goes down this season the current situation would be defcon 5 (or whatever the strongest one of those is) and GH would have taken action. But they are living under the false security of the middle 8's.
There's gotta be something - hooker/halfback in aus not getting a game or in reserve grade that can come over until the end of the season to steady the ship in the centre of the park. Or a coach a available. They don't have to be wayne bennett just someone who can get a treble winning team last year not to be relegated. Are we up to our overseas quota or is there someone we can fiddle the system with?
My point is, if they are in the right mentality of ''something needs to be done'' then something can be done.
Failing that maybe a new way of motivating the players to put in 100%. Look at the warrington game, and then look at the defensive set immediately after the dust up with singleton and simms. They players had good line speed as a unit, they were tackling with oomph and that little bit extra and then at the end they forced an error. That was there for that set and you could see the difference and then you know they aren't defending with everything they've got.
If leeds get relegated these players contracts become null and void. Right? Lots of uncertainty. Most of the top clubs will have tied up their recruitment by then, so these players will be scrapping for clubs, it could mean reduced wages with performances this year and not many options, which could effect mortgage payments, lifestyle, they could have to relocate which could have implications on family life.
If the players weren't already thinking about these possibilities as a result of current performances then they need to be told. Forget whether the coach is liked etc etc It's playing for jobs.
