Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

Re: McDermott out : Wed May 25, 2016 4:53 am
Most likely scenario for me is McDermott stays but the coaching structure is re-vamped with him only being responsible for the first team and a head of rugby brought in to whom McDermott will report.

GH will be far too busy with the stadium redevelopment on top of his current role

Yes me too.Like it or not, McDermott does have enough legitimate excuses too for the demise when reporting to GH. I don't like to use them myself, and there certainly shouldn't be any excuses for us being as bad as we are at times and rooted to the the foot of the table, but the reality is that since game one against Warrington the guy has had nowhere near his full squad to choose from.

Iv'e said before i think he will get his players back for Middle 8's and we will rip through it and GH will spin it as business as usual for next year after a blip out of the clubs control. I personally think things run much deeper and Mac has just run his race as head coach, and feel we will be here mid season next year after his dismissal asking why action wasn't taken earlier, but it certainly looks like he will be given the chance to dig himself out of this hole.

I agree if we seem to be improving towards the Middle 8s, but I do think GH must be at least toying with a Plan B if we still look dreadful going into those games.

Can you spill the beans, sorry gravy on the detail of pie-gate. Was it a steak pie? Was short crust involved? Oh no sorry, you said an e in the surname.

Please provide more meat on the bones

Well we do have one or two that obviously spend time in Mrs Miggins's pie shop. One player is inclined to mince while another prefers tart. The club having had a lot of custard pies recently has changed their order to a large humble pie but this rumour may turn out to be rhubarb.

We have enough excuses to scrape in to the top 8 and maybe finish 6/7 after 30 rounds, if he fails to do that then I think he has to go at the end of the year.
I dont know the reality, but I always had GH down as a pretty ruthless guy who only really cares about winning trophies and keeping the club in profit- he might care about bring through young players also (but that could be from a business standpoint as much as anything)

If GH can get a better coach in for next year he will almost definitely do it- Powell or Robinson preferably. If he can't find someone with enough pedigree then Mac will probably get another year to turn it around

Re: McDermott out : Wed May 25, 2016 11:27 pm
Brian McDermott's Leeds are currently on a run of eight successive away defeats in all comps - the only other time this has happened to Leeds since the re-introduction of two divisions (1973/74) was under Doug Laughton 1991/92 to 1992/93 - the sequence started with the Offiah 10 try game at Central Park although the biggest cheer was reserved for the Paul Dixon effort, pity most of them were delivered ironically.

Since the return of divisional RL Leeds have never lost nine straight away from Headingley. Next game is away at the Halliwell Jones where - when facing Warrington - Leeds have lost on their last five visits, although they did record a win last time at the ground in the Challenge Cup Semi Final V St Helens.

Its getting to the point where the aim should be all about survival. That means there should be no picking of semi-fit players. IMO a review of this season would suggest that this was and is a stupid tactic. I'd also suggest any serious review really needs to ask what on earth our fitness and conditioning guys have been doing.

Its all because of the floods - can't function without Kirkstall!! the fact other teams can function with significantly inferior facilities should not be considered. We are Leeds and we must have Kirkstall. :D

Gawwy should sell tickets to the clubs end of season review.
