What is it with RL fans? Quite a few people on Twitter and Facebook also putting Rowley forward as England coach. That level of batshittedry just confuses me.

I don't get the obsession with Rowley either, his Leigh team were completely shown up as soon as they faced some remotely disciplined teams in the middle eights.

My choice would be for Powell to be Bennett's assistant. He's a clever coach who seems to excel at bringing out that extra 1% from players and fostering team spirit. It also helps avoid the issue of bias as Castleford don't have many England candidates. Can you imagine the wailing if Wane is chosen as the assistant and Farrell is picked over someone like Whitehead? It's bad enough as it is

I just don't get the love-in for Rowley. There are at least 12 other coaches ahead of him. Yes he's done ok with Leigh but that's it, that's the extent of his coaching achievement and experience so far. I just don't get how it can pass through a fully grown adult's head to think Rowley is a reasonable candidate for the national job.
A Leigh-supporting 10 year old, yes. A fully grown adult who should be able to actually use that lump in between their ears, no chance.

While I agree fully that Rowley hasn't yet got the credentials I think it harsh to condemn those who back his appointment. After all, McNamara's just completed a six? year term as England boss that he was awarded on the back of an equally threadbare and undistinguished track record of coaching.

The two coaches everyone is mentioning should have got it: Brian Mac or Shaun Wane
I cant think of two more contrasting coaches, completely different styles of play, man management, even pitch side behaviour
People clearly dont know what they want

Our new super coach has already won his first trophy of the season with a load of people he's never coached before(ignore the fact Cam Smith was captain )

Great appointment imo and hopefully the likes of Powell are part of his staff.
Mcnamara got far too much credit for a series win v a depleted Kiwi team imo when we played some of the dullest RL i've had the misfortune to pay to watch it was time for a change and now we have "The Man".
