must have had to reveal one of the surprises

this was original statement 'The leader of Leeds City Council Councillor Judith Blake said: "It has been another amazing season for the Leeds Rhinos, and Sunday's event at the first direct arena is an opportunity for supporters to congratulate the team on their efforts, and also say a big thank you to legends Kevin Sinfield, Jamie Peacock and Kylie Leuluai who are leaving the club.

"We are extremely proud as a city of the Rhinos, whose commitment, dedication and achievements on the field, coupled with the work they do in our communities is simply fantastic, and they are undoubtedly fully deserving of an event such as this. We wish the team the very best against Wigan in the Grand Final on Saturday."

Leeds Rhinos Chief Executive Gary Hetherington added, "We are grateful for the offer from Leeds City Council and the first direct arena to create an event that allows the whole city to show their appreciation for our three retiring stars and the teams efforts this season. Having won the Challenge Cup and finished top of the table in such dramatic fashion a fortnight ago is something that has really captured the public's imagination around Leeds. The team has a big challenge at a sold out Old Trafford against Wigan to try and add the Super League title to the list of honours however regardless of the result on Saturday night, it is right and proper that we should celebrate the achievement of this group of players."

You mean like the sort of event that's already been planned and publicised for after the New Zealand game? That kind of event? In addition to the other events that have already been planned and publicised. (I believe there's a dinner with JP, Sinfield and Barrie Mac that has been advertised for quite a while now)

You do realise this isn't "the club" honouring anyone don't you? It's an event being put on by First Direct Arena and Leeds City Council, not the Rhinos.

Like I say, if it's your thing knock yourself out. Enjoy.

Who knows, you could even restrain yourself from flying off into a hissy fit because other people don't share your happy-happy joy-joy fandom. Unlikely, I know.

This event quite clearly replaces any homecoming that we would have if we win. If Leeds didn't have one are you seriously suggesting people wouldn't complain about it? Seriously?

As for a hissy-fit I was responding to the plethora of miserable cnuts who are happy to join in these things but only if it doesn't cost them anything. And of course those who take the mick out of such things for no reason.

As I said, if you're a miserable b&stard you can take the p!ss out of an event celebrating 3 of the clubs best ever players in what could be its best ever season.
But only if you're a miserable b&stard.

Ok, my bad £23

Why? Let's turn it on its head

Why should we have to pay for an homecoming? (Which it is)

Previous other times have been free

It's obviously bigger than a regular homecoming but just because you've had something free in the past doesn't mean you should continue to. A homecoming of any sort has costs associated with it.

It's like saying why don't I get in free to the Grand Final.
