How is Garbutt eligible to play? I know the CC isn't the big deal it was, but I don't like the idea of Leeds or anyone else being able to bring in late-season signings.

Looking at the RFL site then a player is fine to be picked for Cup competition as long as he was signed before the completion of Round 23 in the league and hasn't played for anybody else in the competition already that year which obviously doesn't apply to Garbutt coming from the NRL.

They don't appear to have a separate transfer deadline date for the Cup and League eligibility.

It sort of disappeared after the whole Jamie Thackray thing with Hull FC, when the RFL realised they had a separate Cup deadline but no set punishment for fielding an ineligible player.

On the same lines Saints are able to play Quinlan.

Moon is a key man both in our atack and defense but we should not risk him if not fully fit in which case I would stick with Keinhorst at centre. Sure he missed a few tackles in the last match but we should not forget his strong contributions in recent weeks including very good attacking play which brought him 5 tries and 6 try assists.

Ablett will be needed in the 2nd row for this one with a bench of JJB, Garbutt, Singo and Burrow

He didn't just miss a few tackles. He only made one tackle on his own in the game. Every tackle that was classed as completed he needed the assist of team mates on. He was brushed off with ease. To add to that, of his carries one run was a 15 metre burst. Without that he would have averaged per Carry 0.5m. That is pathetic.

His good previous performances, which are a few weeks ago now,and his last three have been poor, have come in the backrow. So if we have to use him, backrow is where it should be.

Starting to think there is a personal thing going on here.....Whats pathetic is a supposed fan jumping on any player that has an off game or two (before you come back on this) to back up a 2 year assumption that he was not good enough for super league.... I guess your not counting the excellent cover tackle on whitehead which should have been a penalty and therefore a try saving tackle had the ref had a good eye in his head....Hope your not coming to the game, guess we will spot you booing both teams as they run out

It looks that way. To say he's been poor in his last 3 games when the week before was the Salford battering when NOBODY in our 17 could seriously be labelled poor that night kind of sums up the situation. Thought he also did ok at Wigan and at home to Saints even if he did lose the ball over the line for a try.

Re Handley
But someone suggested Zak was in bother again and Handley played FB for the under 19s last week.
Could that be why he is in the squad?
No?
Ok, putting 2+2 together and getting 5 I hope.

It should just be keeping Handley with first team to ease his being replaced by Briscoe

If Brian McDermott knows his first choice 17, who he picks for the other 2 in the 19 is fairly irrelevant.
