Iestyn Harris : Thu Jul 02, 2015 2:13 pm
Getting the boot at Salford apparently, anyone fancy a return of the prodigal as assistant coach?

Didn't think he was that bad at Salford in many ways given the madman he worked for. Could certainly teach Sutcliffe and Hardaker a few things about playmaking and kicking, and showed himself as a good assistant at Wigan.

I think there's more chance of him starting at Stand off for us after the legal business that defined his relationship with GH

I Said a while back it was brave to take on the Salford job moving from a comfy top no.2 job at Wigan into a role where he wouldn't get time to build his own side with the Dr in charge. This could leave him in the wilderness for a while and he may have to drop down the divisions to build his reputation up again.I don't ever see him back at Leeds with all that went on over the return from RU.

Would be a good move from Warrington to put him in place if Smith is leaving. I still have faith that Harris will be a top class coach. It's not like someone different is going to make a blind bit of difference at Salford, yet another rash stupid move from Dr gobsh1te if this ends up happening.

OTOH he never remotely looked like raising above expectations. Neither was his Wales side one of the WC's success stories.

I'm not sure he'll ever be a top class head coach, he seems incapable of building team spirit, and the defence of the teams he's ran have been shocking.

I'd definitely like to see him as Leeds' assistant, but there's a cat in hells chance of that happening while GH is at the club.

Agree with that. I think it was a daft move and way too early to put Harris in as head coach in the first place. Salford needed stability and Harris needed to learn for a couple of years.

But Koukash has just compounded his error with another daft move. Sheens won't be there for very long. So more instability with Harris leaving, presumably to be replaced by another inexperienced coach.

I sometimes wonder whether Koukash is deliberately c0cking it up at Salford because virtually everything he does and the way he does it is the opposite of what needs to happen.

I wonder, if the unthinkable happens (from a Salford point of view) and they end up taking a tumble into the Championship, whether the good Doctor will cut his losses?

I would offer Harris a role as assistant coach. I think he'd be likely to take it, head coach jobs don't become available very often. Although maybe one will at Hull FC soon.

We could do with him playing stand off for us at Hunslet on Sunday, we have no half backs at the moment
