Employment in Cas : Fri Feb 27, 2015 6:29 am
With Rob Burrow not selected again, is the total number of people in employment in Cas going to go from 1 to 0? When does Burrows contract expire? I can't see him been too pleased at watching from the stands.

Or possibly some of the older players will be rested on rotation through the season to give players coming through the ranks some game time? A bit like what many on here have argued for, to ease us past the concerns about the fact that Sinny, Mags and Rob are moving to the latter part of their careers.

INteresting that against Widnes Sinfield was credited with much improvement when moving to hooker. Arguably the opposite was true. With us dipping when Aiton went off. For now its good to see the shape of the team looking better. Burrow certainly has his plus points and has produced so many moments of magic over his career. THese moments of magic come at a cost though both to himself and the team. His body must have taken a pounding over the seasons. Also Leeds have to shuffle about to accomodate him. If he's not fully fit then these changes do not represent a risk worth taking maybe, especially whilst the team is winning.

Save him for a few weeks when all the players a more fatigued, and he is fresh and unleash him, and we may get to see the best of him

Far too soon to write off a player of Burrow's talent. When fit he still has great speed and poses a big threat to most defenses and I feel sure he will once again play his part particularly with firmer grounds and in the big games to come. Also injuries will bring opportunities for all the squad as the season unfolds.

I'm not sure anyone is writing him off. With Burrow its about creating a mismatch. If he's carrying a niggle then the mismatch is smaller, similar to starting him rather than bringing him off the bench.

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

Re: Employment in Cas : Fri Feb 27, 2015 9:28 am
How much game time is Sutcliffe actually getting? If the point of leaving Burrow out is to give Sutcliffe more opportunities then does giving him 20 minute cameos real add any value?

very good idea, he is devastating in games against tired defences. pretty good of them to think like that, pretty smart of them actually. (im in the hang McD gang btw) ti may work, keep him fresh and use him as cover. when he is played he will be fresh and eager to show why he should be playing week i week out.

Re: Employment in Cas : Fri Feb 27, 2015 10:41 am
If Burrow is going to be used as a rotation option out of dummy half, he's only going to be effective if we're continually generating quick play the balls.

If we're not, he's neither use nor ornament as all he does is crab sideways and eat up space and his delivery from dummy half is mediocre at times.

Much better to have Sutcliffe on to play the Sinfield role while the captain has a spell at dummy half to rest Aiton.

I know they lost & Aiton had to date his best game for us but, I continue to be impressed by Lunt's passing of the ball from the ruck - fast, crisp & well directed.
Contrast that with what Burrow does as a passing dummy half.
