Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

How much game time is Sutcliffe actually getting? If the point of leaving Burrow out is to give Sutcliffe more opportunities then does giving him 20 minute cameos real add any value?

Quite. Impossible for the lad to make any impact at all in his cameo last night.

Wonder if he may have been already offered a new deal on reduced terms and he has snubbed it, or has made it clear he won't be signing a new one which is the reason he has not been selected over the last couple of games. Probably reading a bit into at the moment, its early days but it is strange he has been left out of the 17 all together for consecutive games. Guess we will know more in the coming weeks with some big games that you would normally expect Rob to be a part of.

I would have thought Burrow offers more at 7 than 9. Should be plenty of opprtunities this season.

Andy is bang on with his assessment of the great man.

We used him to devastating effect in a number of games which took teams by surprise with Rob's raw speed and ability to spot a gap and go through it due to tiring defences and his amazing acceleration scooting from dummy half.

This is no longer a surprise to teams, they know its coming and shut him down, quite easily. It is massively frustrating watching him run up his own backside across a set defensive line and kill any momentum. Again, this is due in part to our lack of consistent quick play the ball and in part to our lack of dummy runs and/or attacking patterns, not that its a real surprise, we've played the same way for years now.

I'm not sure anyone is writing him off. With Burrow its about creating a mismatch. If he's carrying a niggle then the mismatch is smaller, similar to starting him rather than bringing him off the bench.

The thread is about him moving to Cas! This can only be suggested by those who have written him off for Leeds?

You say that with Burrow it is about creating a mismatch as though this is some sort of freak event. Basic attacking rugby strategy is to create mismatches all over the field if possible with use of greater pace, greater skill, creating overlaps, creating space. Burrow still has more of these abilities which unlock defenses than most in the squad.

If he is still carrying a niggle then now is a great time to rest him with Aiton in good form.

My first impression of our team this year is that it is stronger without Rob playing. It's not a knee jerk 6 points from 6 job, it's just an overall feeling that we move forward and look tighter and more cohesive with Aiton at hooker. Last night was a big test for us, and it's the first to me we passed the particular test in 4 years.

We look better with Aiton at starting hooker, but we look weaker when Kev moves to DH - his passing out of the ruck is nowhere near as good, he doesn't have the scoot and he's slower than both Aiton and Burrow.

I don't see the point of giving Sutcliffe cameos after he's played 50 SL games. Start Kev at SO, Burrow on from the bench and let Sutty & Mags fight it out for SH.
