Burgess was offered terms by the Roosters last February after the WCC in Sydney. Wigan tried to match the offer and negotiations continued all summer, but he is desperate to go. Young man, no family ties. Sydney or Wigan. You choose?
Is he good enough? Probably not. Can't blame him for trying really. My own view is that he should have given Wigan a couple of seasons then gone. But of course the risk is - the offer might not be there in two years.
At the moment he would walk into ANY super league team (sorry - much better than Tom, who I like and wanted at Wigan) , so maybe it's not too much of a risk for him to go now.
