Shame, a real talent and exciting player to watch lost to the NRL

Given the wingers the Roosters have I am not sure where he fits in?

He'll play for Newtown in the NSW/Toyota cup for a year or maybe two and end up back in the UK with Leigh or some such - a la Mossop.

i actually think that this kid could make it over there,he is electric in attack and has an abundance of pace,if he improves his positioning defensively then he will be ok over there

if he doesn't make it over there then he will not be short of offers as almost every sl club would be willing to take him on board

You don't think it is more a case of established star rather than "up coming"?

To be fair to Wigan they have certainly not been afraid to push their youngsters to the top over last four/five years. Certainly not held them back to bit parts or fringe.

Is somewhere in the middle. He's only been in the first team for a couple of seasons. Fair play to them they bring a lot of youngsters through and throw them in at the deep end in the way we did 10+years ago. Good for the British game but possibly not so good for Wigan building a 'golden decade'

Burgess was offered terms by the Roosters last February after the WCC in Sydney. Wigan tried to match the offer and negotiations continued all summer, but he is desperate to go. Young man, no family ties. Sydney or Wigan. You choose?

Is he good enough? Probably not. Can't blame him for trying really. My own view is that he should have given Wigan a couple of seasons then gone. But of course the risk is - the offer might not be there in two years.

At the moment he would walk into ANY super league team (sorry - much better than Tom, who I like and wanted at Wigan) , so maybe it's not too much of a risk for him to go now.
