What are people's opinion on Ashton Golding? We may have a very good one here IMO. Dont know where he will fit in our backline tho unless Zac heads off to the NRL.

Much, much better going forward than he is defensively at the moment. Quick feet, good eye for a gap. Needs to work on his passing.

Man of the match in two games against the Aussie Schools and their management were very complimentary about his performances.

Got an important two years ahead of him to see if he can convert that promise into performance. Would be nice to get him some open age rugby at some point this year, maybe out on loan at a Championship One club.

Golding is light years ahead of where he was 12 months ago when he was given plenty of game time during pre season (along with Handley), and he looked exactly what he was - a boy playing a mans game. Now he looks so much more assured dealing with kicks and he reading of the game has improved a hell of a lot. Because of his small frame I don't think he'll ever be any near Hardaker's level defensively, but a lot can happen in 12 months. He seems a real prospect and it would be a shame if we had to let him go, but perhaps his future lies in the halves? He's certainly young enough to make the switch.

A couple of observations from the interviews at the training camp.
Does anyone know what the situation is with Delaney's strapped up left foot?
Hopefully nothing too serious.
And an interesting comment from Sinfield who declared that he wouldn't be surprised to see JP and Kylie do another couple of years.

Kylie is already on fumes, if he decides he wants to play on another couple of years then i say with respect i hope it is elsewhere.

If JP is going strong and putting in his usual stints into mid summer and wants another 12 months i wouldn't be against it but i reckon we will see both call it a day at the end of the year.

Sinfield's hardly going to turn around and say that the two senior props are on their last legs and need pensioning off at the end of the year, is he?

No he just needs to avoid saying anything.
He wasn`t asked if he felt the two senior props would play on If I recall.
