And none for Castleford Tigers. Bye!

Sir Kev's career points : Sun Dec 21, 2014 5:49 pm
According to his page in this year's handbook, he has scored 3676 for Leeds, 34 for GB, 176 for England and 28 for 'other'. This makes a total of 3914.

However, the 'Facts & Figures' pages at the back of the book say he is 46 points short of 4000, which would put him on 3954, and then immediately below that they list the all-time points scorers and in that list he is shown as having 3905!

Which, if any, is correct?

I've sat down with a pen and paper and calculated Kevin Sinfield's career points to be: a f-in lot.

Well, that's some 'impressive' work by the handbook there - because not one of those figures is correct!

Kevin's current career total stands at 3,942 points - made up of 3,678 for Leeds, 220 for England and 44 for Great Britain.

I'm not sure what the 'other' points referred to in the handbook will be - I'm guessing that they could be England games that weren't classified as 'full' internationals (v The Exiles). The 220 points above is a combined total for all his England appearances, including those Exiles games.

He also played for Lancashire in the early '00s - but he didn't score in any of those games...

43 points will see Sir Kev draw level with John Woods (3,985) in fourth place in the all-time leading pointscorers list.

The Leeds website has him down as 491 Leeds appearances so far, so some time this year he'll hit the 500 game total (vs Wakey at home if he doesn't miss any from the season opener).

*might be conflicting numbers but it'll be the one the club uses when making a song and dance about it and issuing him with a commemorative shirt for the occasion. Likewise they have him down as 3,678 points as noted by the above poster, that means that if he avoids major injury then he should hit 4,000 before the end of 2016 which he's earmarked as possible retirement (would need to average 161 points over the next 2 seasons and he's always scored at least 220+ since he became main goal kicker.

Also Burrow (985) and McGuire (969) closing in on 1000 Leeds points.

Following 30 points over the last two games, and assuming that A-Fire-Inside's figures are right, Sir Kev is now 13 points away from John Woods, and 28 points from an amazing 4000. After that, there will be 50 more before he overtakes Gus Risman and becomes third highest points scorer of all time.

McGuire up to 981 points for Leeds now too, so closing in on the 1,000 mark.

*going by the Leeds site.

To think many years ago a lot of us used to think Lewis Jones club points record would never be beaten. never say Never. I think John Holmes apps record 625 is safe for ever though

I hope so. From the time I've been watching Leeds it'd be fitting for KS and JH to hold those records (though those who recall Lewis Jones may disagree).

Neither do I imagine the boys at 1eagu3 (have I written that right??) would be thrilled by the kind of workload John Holmes got through

Jones record stood for well over 50 years Sinfields will be there for much longer than that.Sinfield I think will become second to john in appearances for the club he now has 493 he needs about another 53 to beat Fred Webster to go second. What a legacy Sinny is going to leave?
