Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with commentators or journalists openly following a team an even having a slight positive bias towards that team. As long as it doesn't go over the top, or turn in to negative bias against any other team, then no problem in my eyes.
I make no secret of my support for York in some of the features I write where its relevant, but I would never dream of openly slagging off Hunslet, for example (I would maybe cheekily cheer on their opponents but thats as far as it goes).
And my match reports are always straight down the line, even for York on their own website.
