If we were to sign Moltzen I would really hope it isn't to play centre. It's too specialised a position to 'fill in' even though much older I'd rather throw a load of cash at Lyon to come back to England

If we want a proper utility back, who has played full back, wing and centre this season, and played it well I would go Beau Ryan!

Only GH knows what role Moltzen would play in the squad, he can play to a high standard in most of the back postions?

Hi Andy

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

What's Moltzen's best position and is it correct that he's got loads of potential to get to the top?

Moltzen can look very good taking on the defence - basically a running halfback/full back. In defence he varies from solid to absolutely awful. There was a reason the Tigers wanted him to be halfback this year and not full back, because he has games where he looks terrified of any and all kicks, and doesn't put his body on the line when required. Oddly its quite common that the very next game he looks very solid in defence.

Basically he's a halfback who can play fullback, but at the moment wouldn't stand out in either position.

If Leeds are looking to the NRL then they need to decide for what position, who actually plays there regularly and whether they are actually any good. Just because someone plays centre for instance doesn't mean they're that great - see Delaney for example. If we want a centre there are plenty of better prospects than Moltzen at a similar age who actually play centre. Whether they'd leave the NRL is another issue entirely.

Evidently still nothing signed and sealed but discussions have taken place with Moltzens manager

Has Jodie Broughton realised his potential at Salford? Could he be a potential signing to cover winger and centre. Could he be a Atkins mould centre for Leeds. Not really seen him play the last few years but he regularly seems to be on the scoresheet, is in the England squad and looks like he has developed physically. I'm sure if offered a contract at Leeds he'd consider it.

Over to you TVOC :D

I don't think it needed a move to Salford to realise his potential......just some better foresight by the Leeds' individuals concerned. He's a natural winger in the John Atkinson mould IMO and would be formidable outside Watkins (as indeed he once was)....with BJB/Chisholm outside Hall on the left wing of course. :KATA:

Broughton's not a centre, has neither the hands nor the physicality.

Same reason Ashley Gibson was never going to make it at a top club.

Re: More on Moltzen... : Sun Jul 01, 2012 3:20 pm
Regarding Tim Moltzen, I found this piece on an Aussi forum:

He is not bad nor is he a superstar. Probably needs for his own good to get away from WT and known as the buddy of Marshall. He has to stand on his own feet and record. He could be a good utility player- halfback, fiveeigth or fullback, good in attack, has his moments in defence but some woeful clangers at times eg not keen to put his body on the line especially jump for high balls with big attackers coming at him.

His walkout on a deal to go to St George did not do him any favours in terms of ethics and his word. All of that for one more season at WT and we are not keen to re-sign him. Now his word is shot here in the NRL for some time to come.

Anyway, I hope for his own good he does go elsewhere and make a success of it. ESL could be a way to make a clean break from things at WT and go onwards.

Interesting and he seems to have supporters and detractors in equal numbers but the St George business did him no favours. If the above facts are correct any Rhinos offer may be the only contract offer he gets for 2013! He seems to be more a half back filling-in at fullback?
