So you would rather us win tthe league with ease and not win with a bit of competition. The grounds would be near enough sold out every game which would be good for the clubs and every game would be competetive not an easy win. Id rather watch a competitive game every week
Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.
Ive been saying for years there sould be an 8 team SL. Playing each other twice home and twice away. With the top team winning the trophy, no play offs and a 1 down 1 up relegation/promotion system. IMO its the only way we are going to have a competitive league and players good enough to be able to compete well internationally
Should we play this league through the winter months?
Who wouldnt watch the games? Id rather watch an exciitng Leeds/saints game than a 50 point thumping off the crusaders.
The first 2 might be exciting, but the other 2 will be boring. And give it 3 or 4 years (or 16 games vs Saints) and it'd be rubbish. People soon got bored (as did I) of playing Bradford 3/4 times a season, I'm sure they'd soon get bored playing every team at least 4 times a year, not to mention then the Cup. I notice you happily dont mention the close games we had against the "smaller" teams like Wakey, Cas and Celtic, and the ones we lost against Quins, Salford, Catalans.
Also the loss of the playoffs is a non-starter anyway. The Grand Final is one of only 2 times in the year we get any kind of reasonable news coverage, not to mention the money generated for the RFL.

Got to agree there Rob , but the OP makes some very reasonable points regarding the Crusaders , the situation has embarrassed the sport however the RFL dress it up, The 8 team play-off is also very poor , how a team that lost more games than it won in the regular season can end up 160 minutes from being champions is a joke
we currently have the ridiculous situation of 27 rounds of Superleague, followed by playoffs in which teams in the bottom half to the table compete for the title. We also have a team from South Wales who've moved to north Wales, have no welshmen in their team and are now 30 miles from one of the game's biggest historic teams (who aren't in superleague). They also have a poop ground and are only there to keep the football club going.
Would it not be much more sensible to run a 16 team, 30 game season, with the top 6 playing off for the title and the bottom 10 on a knockout draw for the 'Super League Trophy'? Then picking the best 16 teams in terms of position, location, ground & business stability. Which would be:
Leeds St Helens Wigan Warrington Huddersfield Bradford Hull FC Hull KR Wakefield Castleford Harlequins Catalans Widnes Salford Barrow Halifax
I'd prefer 'Fax in, as going with Tolouse after this disastrous season would be failing to learn from our mistakes. Because of the change in teams, delay the liscencing review by a further year, and make Wakefield's staying in superleague dependent on getting a new ground. I personally am in favour of older grounds, but Wakefield's is abysmally poor. However, discouraging the building of all-seater stadia would be a good thing-Wire have the right balance IMO.
Poor comparison. Toulouse Olympique have been around since 1937. Crusaders have been in existence since 2006. If Toulouse aren't ready in 2012 they never will be, lets not forget that many considered them to have a stronger application than Perpignan when they got admitted as Catalans. I've always been adamant that they should have got in ahead of Crusaders.

I'd certainly agree regarding the playoffs, as you say a team in the bottom half of the table shouldn't have a reward of finishing in the playoffs. As for the Crusaders, well yes it is a tad embarrassing, but is it anymore embarrassing than when Leigh were last in the SL and were mauled just as badly as Celtic? I'm more p1ssed off with the old owners of Celtic than I am with the RFL to be honest.

I love this city, this is my town. We get a week out, without a doubt, gunna sing it out loud. i love my city this is my town, we get a week out, without a doubt, gunna sing it out loud

Yes BV has seen better days, but rest assured BIG news is due on Monday. Have just seen the detailed plans today at the public viewing. It's a great stadium built in a great complex. And to answer the 2 questions that are rushing to the forefront of your mind, 1) No this isn't another false dawn to "blag" another 3 years & 2) We were told categorically that funding was 100% in place and ready to start building in the summer (planning permission permitting).
The design is similar to HJ but the stands on the touchline have arched roofs similar to Huddersfield, seating down either touchline and standing area's behind either sticks. It will have open corners to start with that will be filled in to raised capacity from 12000-15000. A very very nice design, long overdue and nothing the sporting community (native & tourist) don't deserve.
We may have one of the worst grounds in SL but you won't be coming there much longer, hopefully we can leave the hoodoo at BV and beat you at home for once!!!!!
