So was dropped then..White and QLT halves next week and Sharpy at full back.Johnno on bench as cover half/hooker.Would hopefully solve a plethora of glaring problems.

I've been saying for a couple of seasons that Scott is past it. For two seasons he has proved me wrong, but I feel this season may be a step too far for him. A great Fax player but everyone has their limits and perhaps it's time for him to step aside.

I agree 100%, and I've also been saying it for a while, and been wrong. I suspect however he is on a salary that assumes both playing and coaching and there would be no cash saving if he stopped walking around the pitch.

Nothing wrong with walking around the pitch. Tubbs made a career out of it.

You need some big bruising props so any halve can play to their potential, agree that Muzza is at the end of his career but it not a coincidence that his performances over the years are linked to who has been setting the platform for him.
They all give it a real go but we’re not big enough in the front row, it’s showing there, with Muzza and across the park generally imho.

Another glaring area we didn't address in pre-season.It's all down to the coach's dreadfully poor recruitment. When's Barlow available ?

Re: Fax v Swinton. : Mon Mar 04, 2019 3:24 pm
Whilst I don’t think Muzza has been anywhere near his best, we have not been winning the ruck in attack or defence, particularly our front row. And when we do actually get though a set without dropping a ball, our halves are not getting much space to play in which is impacting on how quick we get the ball to our backs and also bring QLT into the line. How much better did we look when Grixy took into his own hands to show the front row how to do it?

FWIW, I would have kept White in yesterday instead of Johnno. The conditions required a six and kick game and Johnno doesn’t have a long kick game which puts the pressure on Muzza. Swinton on the other hand had 2 halves able to kick giving them better options. If we look at all the other games yesterday, other than the plastic pitch one, all were pretty close and affected by the conditions.

I think we lack size in a few areas.
The second rowers generally do a good job but if you play some of the bigger guys from there in the front row then you obviously lack the bulk in the second row.
We have a winger playing in the centres so again just on the point in question you lack the power punch option down that flank, on the other side Steve T will try his best but rarely breaks the line through power.

The winter period in particular is when it’s exposed the most, put it all together and it’s not surprising we are performing like we are, it’s a slog to get down the pitch never mind regularly break the line.
Even the threat from QLT is none existent as he has rarely has an attacking line to come into.

Edit. He looks even less effective than Muzza and we say drop him, it’s not really his fault it’s simply because he’s facing the same problem as Muzza even deeper in his own half of the pitch.

Barlow's ban finishes in Nov IIRC. By the time he could play in his 1st competitive game the following Feb, it would be almost 5 years since he played his last!!
