I'm just wondering if any thought has been given by the club to cancelling this game. Due to the fixture list I really can't see what either club, never mind supporters would gain from this match going ahead. A game at Keighley or York would make much more sense I believe. Thoughts? The Sportsman, shuddersfield. Fyne, Maverick 4.2% Mmm!

Erm apart from a chance for the players to play a competitive game against a good team and for both clubs to play a game that wont cost them much money because there might be somewhat of a crowd, apart from that yeah I can't see the point.

The club really needs to take a good long hard look at cancelling this game.

Yes Hudds Shay I get your point because neither coach is going to want to show how they intend to play the league match. It's probably not quite the friendly I would have picked knowing the fixtures against hopefully our main competitor.

There might be a bit too much spice to the game if it happens but it certainly would get us match ready!!

I've just forwarded your message to the club and they have confirmed that they'll now cancel the game and can't believe they never thought of this before.

Leave The Sportsman and go home, you've had enough.

Fev played Fax in a pre-season friendly last season (albeit a couple of weeks earlier than is scheduled this year) and the two teams met in week one then, too, so it's not that different.

More to the point, this fixture was agreed before last season's friendly as the reverse fixture ie Fax at home last year, Fev at home this season.

From memory, Fax played pretty much a reserve side in the second half of the friendly last year and these pre-season games seldom have much influence on the outcome of regular-season games anyway.

I don’t like pre-season games but from a coaches perspective they are a necessary evil.

Pre season friendlies are basically training sessions to attain fitness, tactics and get combinations going. Therefore to have one against your 1st opponents in a four pointer match,to me seems totally counter productive.
