A fitting end. : Sun Sep 25, 2016 4:53 pm
Well today's game was a truly awful end to an awful season. To be fair to the lads if a ref gives a team 16 points start you're always going to struggle but we need a real good clear out. I can think of only a handful of players, Tangata, Johnston, Ambler, Woodbourne-Hall, Fairbank, Calahane and Manning. Maybe a couple more but the luckiest bloke to be contracted for next year has to be Marshall. Brilliant last season, KH this season. Any road, every cloud has a silver lining and at least we're spared a trip to the RFL'S dump next week! A nice break now and let's come back refreshed for what can only be a better season next year. Up The Fax! Magic Rock Tap, Ringmaster 3.9% Mmm! :DRUNK: :thumb:

It was a tough first half and always going to be difficult to come back from that, and yes the ref seemed just to give Sheffield penalties for fun, however we were atrocious at tackling. Jeez I'm glad that season is over and we can look forward to next year. I'm sure early bird season ticket sales will be slow, especially if they drip feed us information like they have done in the past.

And Behold, a pale horse. And on his back his name was death.

The weekend starts on a Monday.

Didn't seem right bothered as he came down to the dug out during the game.
But then again neither did the players.
Much as I dislike the little sheite we nead a half back like Aston and a centre like Tyson.
Players who can mix it without getting caught (cue G Moore)

I'm sure he thought he had the right plan this year but not sure at what point in the season that was. The whole season seemed to be up and down, the win at Blackpool should have kicked us on but the number of times we fell apart against the weaker teams in the division was embarrassing.

With al the rumours and nothing coming from the club who the hell knows what stage we will be at come the start of the 2017 season, next season will be even more difficult so if we are to compete we will need to be ready right from the off.

We were competing with the ref in the first half to demonstrate who could perform the worst. I'm sure the Eagles supporters thought he did fine, but he really wasn't in control, and that's what contributed to the spats that we saw later.

Second half was better, but forced passes trying to make things happen was our downfall with the interception etc.

Good to see a hard fought game with defences on top :)

Roll on 2017 and a better season. Good to see the reserves who've made it through to the 1st team showing good promise and making an impact.

Well thank God our season is officially over. Think it actually happened when we got hammered by Leigh. Hopefully RM has learned more from this season than last. From what I hear he might need to take on board what his backroom staff say and put more trust in them and be less stubborn. We have had some good young players come through and that is more down the work Martin Gonzalez is doing and hopefully this continues. And from what I know had RM taken his advice we would have had Rawsthorne signed up way before Hull came in for him. At worst we might have got a fee for him.

Re: A fitting end. : Sun Sep 25, 2016 7:48 pm
We could have signed Rawsthorne to a 10 year contract and still not get a fee for him because it would have been a part time contract. Any team comes in for him offering him a full time contract and he is free to leave as the RFL think he will develop better in a full time environment. Strange though in this dual reg era that better development is seen as loaning young players to the very teams where they do not think they will develop.

Anyway season over and god knows what next season will bring. The club has been let down badly this season, what started out as what should have been our most promising season in years has probably turned in to one of our most disappointing ever because of that optimism. The final act playing a 5th place semi final in a stadium with only one side open and a crowd that Town would be proud of sums the season up really.

On another note any reason why 87legends now only browses the forum without posting? I know his team has not gone too well in the middle 8's but even so at least it was a laugh.

I totally agree and like everybody else I am glad this season is over, it ended at Leigh for me as that was when I realized we were not as good as we thought we were. I have heard the same rumours about RM not listening and that he has been stubborn and I think this has cost him this season and he must learn to open up and be more flexible. Sadly I am very dfown beat about next season as if he doesn't then we will go backwards and the club will struggle, things have to change at ALL levels for me the club have become very insular.
