Don't understand your point.He was in possession so the foul WAS on the player.

Think you're thinking of an eight point try. Whilst it's likely that the "foul" play would be on the potential scorer, it doesn't have to be. It doesn't have to be some sort of violence or fisticuffs either, could be offside or a knock on or summat.

Penalty Try Rules are clear section 6

"(d) The Referee may award a penalty try if, in his opinion, a try would have been scored but for the unfair play of the defending team. A penalty try is awarded between the goal posts irrespective of where the offence occurred."

When you read all those rules, then think that in a second the referee has to take all those points into consideration and make the call under pressure, you understand why referees so often get it wrong. As fans we get frustrated but it's an impossible task.

Spot on....but I enjoy moaning at them. Although at the moment Campbell is amongst the best three.

But they had the screen there. For me it comes down to that ridiculous referees opinion on video footage he hasn't seen. That needs scrapping, ruined so many games in the soooooooper league

Aye, maybe, but wasn't it a definite penalty try Ian? If it had been a close game, for example the NRC final when Worrincy was pulled back with the line open against the gobblers, it can cost you the game, can't it? The point is it was on the screen. How can they get it so wrong? The Blue Bell, York. Kelham Island best 3.8% Mmm!

When Worrincy was pulled back ?Pete I think you will find Worrincy wasn't pulled back, it was Bob Beswick who was pulled back, the Ref let play carry on as he thought Rob Worrincy was sure to score, but he didn't another great Blackpool week end for the Leythers.I'm at the Shay on Sunday, hopefully see you there.I'm tipping a Fax win.
