This thread is great because none of those nasty off thread Guardanistas can shoot us down, although some will be trying to find a way. Ian it was the Nawab of Pataudi, a great cricketer, Even remembering him shows your knowledge of sport. "Charlie knows" Who said "pass me the salt gunga din?" Politically incorrect but quite funny. I await from the enforcer.
Good old Fiery Freddie. Now there was a proper Yorkshireman!

Very true, you never knew what he was saying, especially when he presented the Indoor League TV programme ,and used to say,Al Si Thi. Myself I prefer ed Brian Statham,of course we now have Jimmy Anderson the Burnley Express, and Jos Whirlwind Butler.Cmon you Lankies.

I met Fred and Brian at the DVS. They remained great mates long after they finished playing.

Fred always denied the Gunga Din story.
I was at Headingley when Yorkshire played Nottinghamshire, the great Garfield Sobers strode to the wicket, the crowd rose, Freddy charged in that barrel chest, down came the ball, down came Garfields stumps, we hadn't even sat down and we clapped him off.

Mr Caroli you only have to compare Yorkshire to Lancashire in playing personal to understand Yorkshire are superior, we are in a higher league, and have Root, Ballence, Rashid, and a couple of others whose names slip my mind at the moment,Mr Trueman may not have taken as many wickets as Mr Anderson , but I bet the Aussies feared Fred more, and Fred appeared on Dad's Army once.

Mr Jagger ,I think you will find Lancs are now in the same League as Yorkshire ,do you mean Lythe as one of the Yorkie England players?I could bowl him out with a Satsuma ,Ballence the same ,and Rashid couldn't get me out , Root is not a bad batter but never number 1 in the world, ask the Aussies Warner his opinion. As for Freddie Trueman who holds the most wickets in Test matches?Jimmy Jimmy ,Jimmy Anderson, the Burnley Bullet.
