Silly question, though. It isn't USA v EU. The Ryder Cup was founded in the 20s when there was no EU. Plus, initially it was USA v GB.

We allowed other European countries to the party, just because we wanted to have the likes of Seve Ballesteros to beef up our then fairly pisspoor side, but basically they are in by invitation.

There are over 50 FAs in UEFA, including Ukraine, Israel and Russia, none of which last I heard were EU members.

You shouldn't really need to explain it to people on here. Maybe your kids like I did with my 10 year old but not people who post on here who should mostly be adults.

This is exactly the kind of condescending tone that led me to vote in.

There will have been better reasons I bet.

Nope, the condescending tone of the internet commentariat is a legitimate reason. It has been given many times as a reason. It is a reason. It is therefore reasonable.

It is Eurovision and not EUrovision by the way.
But generally they are desperate for anyone they can get.

As has been pointed out:

European Broadcasting Union - nothing to do with the EU (and no, there's no logic for Australia being in its karaoke competition)
Professional Golfers' Association European Tour - nothing to do with the EU

and while we're on the subject

European Convention on Human Rights (and it's associated European Court of Human Rights) - nothing to do with the EU

(condescending enough, goat boy? ;-) _
Doubt everything, even this

As you clearly seem to know the terms under which we'll leave the EU, could you pop down to London and save all the pesky negotiating?

The EU and Europe are not synonyms.

However, while we might not be preparing to unhitch these islands from the rest of the continent and float off into the Atlantic, you are being unhitched from these forums again, Standee.
