Is this your assumption / wish / dream / hope ?

For your statement to have any gravitas, Article 50 would have to be invoked in the next few days, prior to the Supreme Court verdict in the new year.

Once again, you seem to be riding round on your Cherry Picker

Barnier wrote:
"Should the UK notify the council by the end of March '17 [that it is triggering Article 50], as Prime Minister Theresa May said she would, it is safe to say that negotiation would start a few weeks later and an Article 50 agreement be reached by October '18."

After that date there would need to be four or five months for ratification

There could be a fair amount of slippage to the start date too, if the Supreme Court agrees with the original decision in the High Court.

I try to understand & respect all posters opinions on the subject, it interests me greatly (what with the near fifty, fifty split in the nation an'all).

But the poster in question appears to enjoy either posting random stuff just to enjoy getting a bite, or because they actually believe some of the bull the right wing papers spout?

But to digress, do you know what appalls me most in this sorry debacle?

That the majority of those that could be bothered, actually voted the same way as someone who’s a member of U.K.I.P.

To us a business term, UKIP have tapped into a market that was being ignored by the other parties and built their campaign of fear. Some of this is genuine but, most is whipped up hysteria by UKIP, The Tory press and some by extremists.
Also, Cameron, although he disappeared faster that you can say "goodbye", by coming back from his tour of the EU with nothing, shot himself in the foot and he was clearly the wrong person to head the "remain" campaign.
Rightly or wrongly, the major topic of the debate was immigration and this clearly hasn't been dealt with, with numbers on the increase and at record levels.
Most people are happy with a level of immigration and there are certain sectors, health for instance, where we are desperately short of qualified staff but, to pretend that immigration is under control, when the election pledge was to reduce the number to "tens of thousands" was reckless.
Despite millions of people saying they knew what they were voting for is laughable, as the government had no idea what the next move should be.
Some want a big wall building up around the island that we live on and others would be happy with a "tweak" to where we were pre the referendum.
The one certainty is that society has become less tolerant of one another and when the dust finally settles, this will be one of the biggest problems for us all to deal with.

But what would have happened had the referendum thrown up a reverse result where 52% voted to remain? Would everyone be carrying on regardless like there weren't any problems in the first place? Clearly there are problems and they're not going to go away any time soon.

Certainly, the symptoms are there, but is the cure for them an EU exit?
